About the Hatchinator

Built by anglers,
made better by every cast.

The Hatchinator team has one goal: make sure you're on the right water at the right moment. We built a forecast model that reads live stream conditions, tracks degree day accumulation, and weighs the environmental signals that experienced anglers have relied on for generations — barometric pressure, water temperature, cloud cover, flow stability — and turns them into a daily probability score for each species on each river.

But here's the thing about hatch prediction: no model knows a river better than the angler who fishes it. Every report you log — a Hendrickson coming off in the afternoon flat, a Hex spinner fall at dusk, even a day when conditions looked perfect and nothing happened — makes the forecast sharper for everyone who comes after you.

Live stream conditions
Real-time flow and water temperature from USGS gauges, refreshed every 15 minutes. No stale data.
Species-specific scoring
Eight species, eight distinct emergence profiles. A Hex hatch needs different conditions than a BWO — the model knows the difference.
Degree day tracking
Seasonal accumulation from January 1st positions each species within its emergence window — not just weather, but where we are in the year.
Community calibration
Angler reports feed directly back into model accuracy. The more we all log, the tighter the predictions become over time.
